About Vic
Vic D’Albert has lived in Prestwich for most of his adult life. He is married to Mary who is also a councillor, representing St/Mary’s ward, and they have a daughter, Elizabeth who is currently studying at Sheffield University.
Since joining the Liberal Party in 1983 (”Mrs T drove me to it!”), he progressed to hold all key positions in the local party, and was subsequently a founding member of the Social & Liberal Democrats.
Vic has represented the Holyrood Ward of Prestwich on Bury Council since 1991 when he became the first Liberal Democrat on Bury Council. In May 2008 he was re-elected for a further 4 year term with 51% of the vote. Vic is also a Parliamentary Candidate for Bury South at the next General Election.
Currently living on Prestwich Park Road South, Vic has also lived on Ruskin Crescent and Penryhn Drive. His daughter attended Park View Primary School before progressing to Bury Grammar.
Vic is an accountant by profession and currently works for TaxAssist Accountants on Rochdale Road, Bury. He has also worked in Prestwich and for a time part-owned a small company in Bury.
Vic has served on most Council committees during his 16 years on the Council and is currently Chair of Prestwich Area Partnership (successor to Prestwich Area Board) and also serves on Bury Council’s Healthier Communities Scrutiny Commission, Standards Committee, and Area Partnership Chairs Group.
Vic is a Governor of two local primary schools; Heaton Park Primary School on Cuckoo Lane, Whitefield and St.Mary’s CofE Primary School on Rectory Lane. He is also a council appointee to the Board of Bury Racial Equality Council.
Spare time activities include gardening, music, geneology, and watching sport.
